I am a Ph.D. student at Michigan State University (MSU) starting from Fall 2024. I obtained my B.Sc. from Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Moratuwa. My main research interests are Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. My final year research was centered on developing a sentiment analysis model for colloquial Sinhala under the supervision of Dr. Nisansa de Silva and Mr. Yudhanjaya Wijeratne. Before joining MSU for my Ph.D. I worked as a software engineer at WSO2.

Aug 16, 2024 I was selected for a Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University.
Nov 7, 2022 The journal paper Facebook for Sentiment Analysis: Baseline Models to Predict Facebook Reactions of Sinhala Posts was published.
Oct 24, 2022 The conference paper Sinhala Sentence Embedding: A Two-Tiered Structure for Low-Resource Languages was published.
May 1, 2022 Started working as a software engineer at WSO2.
Apr 29, 2022 Successfully defended the bachelors thesis titled, “Developing a Sentiment Detection Model for Colloquial Sinhala Text Using Facebook Data”.
